Oh my! You swore you had your Samsung Galaxy A9 in your back pocket but it is no longer there. You tried calling for it in case you dropped it in your car to no avail. Suddenly... someone answered and your heart dropped. Luckily, they are a good samaritan. The bad news is that it is busted. Your device looks like it dropped out of your back pocket and ran over badly by a few cars. It was amazing that the person who saved your phone was able to pick up your call.
If this has ever happened to you, you would empathise with another person in this situation. You would probably tell your younger self, and other Android users, to plan ahead to make sure that your data will not be lost in the event that you damaged or lost your phone.
Two of the most important things that you would want to preserve are your contacts (address book) and SMSes. Your address book is an essential part in your Samsung A5/A6/A9 since they contain important business and personal contact information. Some SMSes are worth saving because you may want to refer to business details in the future or read personal messages over again.
So how do you backup contacts or SMS from Samsung Galaxy A5/A7/A9 to computer?
The drag-and-drop method is the most direct way to backup the content of your phone; just take note that this method will only allow you to backup contacts, media files and documents.
Firstly, open your Contacts application and tap on the "Menu" button (three dots icon), click "Settings". Open "Contacts" and tap on "Import/Export contacts". Secondly, click on "Export to device storage"---this will cause your contacts to be saved as a vCard file.
Next, connect your device to your computer by using a microUSB to USB cable. Once your device is mounted as a storage device and open it to access all the files. Find the vCard. Complete the transfer by dragging and dropping it into your computer.
One of the best things about using an Android device is that you are supported by Google and you can be assured that if you give it permission to do so, it will help you backup your device.
The first thing you need to do is go to "Settings" and then "Backup &Reset". You will then need to enable "Backup my data" and "Automatic restore". Google will cover you when it comes to these data: Google Calendar settings, Wi-Fi networks & passwords, home screen wallpapers, Gmail settings, apps installed through Google Play, Display settings, Language & Input settings, Date & Time and third-party app settings & data.
Secondly, open "Accounts" in "Settings" and click on your Google account. You should be able to see a list of services that you can backup: App data, Calendar, Contacts, Docs, Gmail, Photos etc. Check the boxes that correspond to the items that you want to backup.to the items that you want to backup.
The only problem with this method is that it does not support SMS backup.Even though the two methods above are great in backing up your contacts, there are many limitations---the most significant one being not able to transfer or backup your SMSes. Alternatively, use Wondershare TunesGo.
