Nowadays, many security systems are being installed by phone manufacturers to restrict users from downloading and installing third party applications. This is also the same for the Motorola XT1022 phone. However, you and any other advanced user will be able to break this system by rooting the phone. Rooting the phone means that, with the help of certain files, you will be able to unlock the security system that is restricting you from downloading and installing their party applications.
You have to remember, though, that rooting your Motorola phone will mean that you will be voiding the warranty that has been provided by the manufacturer for your model. A voided warranty means that you cannot ask the manufacturer for help if the phone gets bricked due to the rooting process that you are about to do.
Before you start the rooting process, you should make sure that your phone has more than 50% battery life so that it will not shut off all of a sudden while you are doing the process. This situation typically damages the phone, such as bootloop and other issues. If you have less than 50% battery life, you should first charge it. In addition, you should make sure that you will not be turning off your computer during the process. Most importantly, you should be creating a back up file for the data that you have saved into your phone. At times, errors might be encountered where you will need to reset the device. Backing files up will help you avoid losing your files.
Step 1 You should first make sure that your phone will be on developer mode. To do so, you should tap on the Settings icon and locate the “About phone” option. Afterwards, you need to scroll down to the “Build number” and tap on it for about 7 to 10 times until you see the message that says “You are now a developer!”.
Step 2 Then, you will need to enable USB debugging. On the same Settings menu, you should go to “Developer options” and tap the box beside “USB Debugging” until a check mark appears. You will then need to press OK on the dialog box that will ask you if you will “Allow USB Debugging?”.
Step 3 Afterwards, you need to go to your computer and access a website which is an online server for the rooting files that you need to download and install. The main zip file that you should be downloading is the Moto E Auto Root & Recovery.zip file. After downloading the zip file to your computer, you will have to extract the files contained in it.
Step 4 One of the files that will be extracted from the zip file will be the Motorola drivers for your computer. You will have to install these drivers to your computer. You should choose whether you will be installing the 32-bit or 64-bit files. This will depend on what type of computer that you have. You just have to double click on the file to start the installation. You do not have to worry too much about this step since there is a setup wizard that will help you along the way. All you have to do is click on “Next” and “Finish”.
Step 5 After installing the drivers, you will need to plug your Motorola device to the computer with the use of a USB cable. Typically, you will be receiving a pop up that will ask for your permission to install the files on your device. You should always click on “Allow” and wait for about a few seconds for the phone to finish the installation. Afterwards, you will have to run the “Moto E Boot Recovery.bat” file to run the recovery script.
Step 6 You will then notice that your SuperSU application will start doing the process. Once the process is being down, your phone will automatically go to its TWRP Recovery mode or TEAMWIN Recover mode. At this point, your device will not work even if you tap on it. You will just have to wait for around a minute for the screen to turn off by itself.
Step 7 Once it turns off, you will need to push the Power button once. Then, you will be given several options on the screen once the phone boots back up. You should be selecting the Install option and go the “Downloads” section. Afterwards, you just need to swipe across the screen to flash the files. The screenshot below should tell you that the flashing of the files is ongoing. After the flashing process has been done, you will just then need to tap on “Reboot the system” so that your phone will reboot itself.
Step 8 Once it boots back up, the phone will be upgrading by itself. You should just wait until the process comes to an end.
Step 9 After the updates have been done, you should be checking on your App drawer. You should be seeing the SuperSU icon as its presence will let you know that the rooting process has been successful. You can now enjoy your rooted device.
There is also another way of rooting your Motorola XT1022 phone. This is usually known as a one click root process that is being made available by TunesGo.
