Are you fond of misplacing your android phone? Loosing your android phone may not necessarily through theft, at time you could misplace it around your house. It could accidentally drop when you going to work. In an event where any of these scenarios happen to you and you missing your phone, you can still track it, thanks to tireless hardworking technology innovators. You can either track your phone using apps or without apps. Without using tracking apps you can use Google’s Android device manager (ADM), Google Map Location History and Google AirDroid. In this article the main focus is tracking Android phone using Android Device Manager.
Android Device Manager is a Google account app that lets you find your lost phone easily. It also allows you wipe data from your lost phone. You can access ADM app online or download it to a smartphone. To begin the process of tracking your phone in whatsoever case that it is missing, you should download this Android Device Manager app from Google play store. Another vital thing that you should have is your Google account log in details that you used when setting up your phone. Using ADM you can remotely track your phone via web or installed ADM version. When you decide to use Android Device manager web based here is what to do.
Step 1 Search for Android Device Manager version on a computers browser.
Step 2 Sign in to the website using your lost phone Google account. The location of your device will be displayed providing you with the accurate distance. It will also display the time when it was last seen and date.
Step 3 From there you can then choose either to ring, lock or erase.
As mentioned earlier you can also download the Android Device Manager to a smartphone if you cannot access a computer. Visit Google play store and download it to a friend’s android phone since your phone is lost. From there follow these steps.
Step 1 Turn on the Android Device Manager. Whenever this app is installed to android phone it is usually turned off by default. Therefore, to turn go to phone Settings, tap on Security then Device Administrators. You can now turn on the Android Device manager by marking on it and finally click on Activate icon
Step 2 Now sign on the ADM app using your phone Google accounts on the Guest mode.
Step 3 Click on Location icon on the right side to be able to view your lost phone location.
This application is useful especially if you had logged in your lost phone using Google account, otherwise it will be useless. Now that you have traced the location of your lost phone, here is what you need to do.
Once you have traced the location of your lost phone, you can either call or ring it if it somewhere around the house. To get this option, click on Location button then click on Ring to call your device. The device will ring loudly for five minutes even if your phone was in a silent mode. So if it got lost within the house you can be able to hear it. ADM will notify you if your phone rang or not.
If your phone contains vital and sensitive information such as bank details, it is necessary to erase them so that the person who finds your phone may not find or use them. Therefore you need to wipe by performing factory reset. After tracing your phone over the application click on Lock and Erase button.
Thereafter, click on Erase icon and then confirm the action. All the content will be wiped out on the lost phone. You will also receive a notification on your email account informing you of this action.
You can also lock your lost smartphone from unauthorised person using it. It will block all voice calls and texts. On the Android Device Manager you have an option of locking the tracked phone.
Click on Lock icon. You will be prompted to enter the Phone number that it can be used to contact you.
Create a password to lock your phone with other than password of Google account. When you finally click on The Lock button the number will be displayed on the screen of your lost phone. Therefore when somebody finds your phone he or she will contact that number displayed on the screen.
Finally you need notify your friends and about your phone recovery. They will assist you in retrieving your phone from the identified location. For instance if it is somewhere around the backyard, they can go around the yard as you ring the phone. If it is not within the house or maybe someone took it you can inform the security personnel.
Using Android Device Manger is easier and accurate. However, the lost phone needs to have an active simcard and can be able to access Internet.
